Mahasiswa program studi Teknologi Industri Pertanian (Prodi TIP) Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Trunojoyo Madura berhasil meraih silver medal dikategori lingkungan. Kompetisi ini diselenggarakan oleh organisasi Nusantara Muda yang berkerjasama dengan Universitas Nahdlatul Wathan Mataram. Kegiatan berlangsung selama empat hari mulai dari 1 Maret sampai dengan 4 Maret 2024 yang diikuti oleh kurang lebih 394 peserta yang berasal dari berbagai penjuru Indonesia.
Kompetisi ini terdiri dari dua lomba yakni khusus untuk SMA sederajat dan kategori umum. Masing masing lomba dibagi menjadi dua kategori yakni, essay presentation dan poster presentation. Sedangkan terdapat 9 sub tema yang dikompetisikan, pertanian dan peternakan, energi dan teknologi, lingkungan, pendidikan, hukum dan ekonomi, pangan, kesehatan, pariwisata dan budaya serta sosial budaya dan politik. Kompetisi diselenggarakan dalam satu hari penuh, dimana seluruh peserta melaksanakan presentasi sesuai dengan kategori lomba dan tema.
Team yang diketuai oleh Rika Handayani dengan anggota Farikha Intan kiswono dan Rossa Renintan Aqsahdyah Garini dibawah bimbingan Prof. Ir. Umi Purwandari. M. App. Sc., Ph.D mengambil kategori lomba essay presentation untuk sub tema lingkungan dengan judul essay Konsep Green Café: Pengelolaan Ampas Kopi Untuk Coffee Shop Ramah Lingkungan. Menurut Rika dan team, limbah ampas kopi tidak begitu disorot, padahal memiliki kandungan yang dapat merusak lingkungan apabila tidak diolah terlebih dahulu. Sehingga melalui kompetisi ini Rika dan team ingin membagikan ide baru dalam memanfaatkan limbah ampas kopi melalui pengaplikasian konsep zero waste. Ada beberapa produk turunan yang dapat diciptakan dengan memanfaatkan ampas kopi diantaranya, sabun padat dan cair dari ampas kopi, lilin aromaterapi, cutlery (pengganti alat makan plastik), briket dan pupuk organik.
Secara keseluruhan melalui komeptisi ini berlangsung dengan sangat meriah, selain sebagai ajang mengasah kemampuan dalam menyampaikan gagasan, kompetisi ini memberikan experience yang menarik bagi seluruh peserta, dimana terdapat filed trip pulau Lombok yang diikuti oleh seluruh peserta. Sehingga selain menciptaan kompetisi berskala nasional yang berintegritas tak lupa mengenalkan budaya serta wisata yang ada di Indonesia khususnya di Lombok.
